What would you be willing to do to see an enormous sum of money in your bank account? That’s the unsettling question at the heart of Squid Game, the South Korean series that took social media by storm when it premiered in September 2021.
The story follows Seong Gi-hun, a man struggling with financial hardship who is approached by a mysterious recruiter offering him a chance at unimaginable wealth. But what first seems to be an innocent competition quickly spirals into a brutal, sadistic ordeal where the price of losing is far greater than just missing out on the prize.

Rumors of a sequel had been circulating for some time, but Netflix’s confirmation made it official. Later, in mid-2024, the streaming giant not only announced a release date for Season 2 but also revealed plans for a third installment.
The news came at an exciting time, with Netflix strategically making the announcement during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, tying the promotion to the global sporting event.
